This beautiful flower has been traditionally used as a natural dye in West Africa. In this dye kit, hibiscus can be activated for both coloring fabric and brewing tea. It contains hibiscus flowers, cotton scarves and 2 mordant options for binding the pink hue of hibiscus onto fiber: aluminum sulfate and white vinegar.

Hibiscus is a small tropical tree in the mallow family, related to valuable crops such as okra and cotton, and wise trees like baobab and linden. Plants in the mallow family share an intrinsic connection to the heart chakra and divine feminine powers of creation, nourishment and sustenance. The medicinal usage of hibiscus has been traced back to Nubian civilization in Ancient Egypt and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
